New Digs
Odd Moxie has moved basecamp to the Work Nimbly site on Ingram Road in Williamsburg.
Why? Because Work Nimbly is where all the cool people hang out, it’s Williamsburg’s CoWorking space, and there are 95% less cats in my inbox. (And possibly because I own a ⅓ of the company.)
Six months ago, I found myself at an informal gathering of folks at a local restaurant to discuss CoWorking in Williamsburg. It started as a general interest meeting, but by the end of breakfast I found myself part of a core group of plotters.
Three months later, we set up shop in the local library on Wednesdays to see if CoWorking would work for us.
In June, two other small business owners and I signed a lease.
And Work NImbly was born.
Odd Moxie has always rented space as we’ve needed. The flipside is that often I find myself all by my lonesome.
Managing teams over the ‘net means there are no serendipitous moments at the water cooler. There’s no place to brag about new projects. No group lunches. And most editing is done in a dark room with the curtains drawn. As cool as emo is right now, I prefer not to spend most of my time isolated, in the dark, pushing pixels.
I am still in the dark with those pixels - but when I go to fill my tea cup there are serendipitous moments at the water cooler (and there is actually a water cooler.) I now hear about neat things happening in my neighborhood, and I see fresh faces regularly.
Odd Moxie still has a private office, keep hours by appointment only, and will still rent space as needed for conferences, meetings, shoots, and events. From the outside it will seem like nothing has changed... but from the inside it’s a whole new perspective.
Odd Moxie has a new home at Work Nimbly. Come check it out.
